Life Has Changed Quickly
and most of us aren't pivoting as quick as the changes demand. This leads to a sense of loss.
While grieving a loss is an inevitable part of life, there are ways to help cope with the pain, and come to terms with our grief. We eventually, find a way to pick up the pieces and move on. Here are a few steps you can take that may help.
Acknowledge your pain. Name what has changed out loud. Notice the pain points. Not looking at the situation isn't going to make it go away so really take stock of what has changed. If possible, acknowledge what you've done well during covid-19.
Accept that you are grieving the past and recognize grief can trigger many different and unexpected emotions. This is what you should know about the stages of grief. You will have all of those emotions as you navigate the new normal. Give yourself a break. Sitting on the couch and binge watching TV for a day is okay.
Understand that your grieving process will be unique to you. There is no set amount of time it will take for you to move on. Follow the routines that are available and come up with new ones that will make you feel comfortable.
Seek out face-to-face support from people who care about you. Friends, family members, your faith, professionals, or support groups. Facetime, zoom, and skype. Not everyone is capable of dealing with others while grieving themselves. They may feel uncomfortable and confused. Accept where you are and where the other people are around you. We are here for you to support you during this time of grief as well.
Support yourself emotionally by taking care of yourself physically. Eat healthy, take your supplements, get out into nature even if that means sticking your feet in the kiddy pool on your balcony. Treat yourself to a favorite form of relaxation.
Recognize the difference between grief and depression. Everyone grieves different yet grief and depression share several common characteristics. Both may include intense sadness, fatigue, sleep and appetite disturbances, low energy, loss of pleasure, and difficulty concentrating. The key difference is that a grieving person usually stays connected to others, periodically experiences pleasure, and continues functioning as he rebuilds his life. With depression, a connection with others and the ability to experience even brief periods of pleasure are generally missing. If you are not sure if you are having depression or grief please feel free to schedule a session at the office. We will make time for you immediately.
Conversation, personal space, and allowance can go further than retreating into your personal shell. If you need someone to talk to and don't want to leave your home, we can facilitate Face Time or Zoom sessions.
Practice being grateful for your present challenges, love lousy drivers, appreciate what you have, send buckets of imaginary light to those living in the dark, and hum.

Especially in the toughest of times so please take a moment and grin, even if you have to fake it.
Chefs don't find coronavirus jokes funny because they are in bad taste. But, you know what they say. Feed a cold, starve a fever, and drink a Corona.
When everything started, the grocery stores in France look like a tornado hit -- all that was left was de brie. Then the wurst-case scenario happened. German's went on a shopping spree and picked up all the sausage and cheese. I was truly worried it might get ugly out there with all the beauty and barber shops closed.
We now have to act differently. I used to cough to cover up a fart. Now a fart covers up a cough.
Even when you feel like giving up, give up on that feeling.
