You Are What You Eat!

The first mention of the phrase 'you are what you eat' came from the 1826 work Physiologie du Gout, ou Medetations de Gastronomie Transcendante. The French author named, Anthelme Brillat-Savarin wrote: “Tell me what you eat and I will tell you what your are.”  That saying is even more important then it was in 1826.

Calories aren't created equally. Food with no nutritional value is called junk food. No country eats perfect but our choices in America come from more processed foods than whole foods. They lack macro-nutrients and naturally occurring vitamins and minerals. We know that yet some of our food choices aren't even food. This article gives you The Toxic Truth About Modern Food.

When we are hungry, we want fast and sometimes fast isn't the best choice. One strategy that saves you is cooking many meals and freezing them. This resource talks about what you can and can't be frozen: 9 Rules of Batch Cooking.

Then we have those pesky cravings. This article explains: 3 Ways To Beat Your Food Cravings. Many processed foods give us blood sugar spikes which create cravings. Yes, you heard that right. You can take Chromium Nicotinate and Diaxinol but what if we ate real food instead? Grapes instead of sugar cookies? Celery juice instead of carbonated cola?

During the Victorian era, celery was an exotic fresh vegetable displayed in crystal vases at formal dinners. Last year, Anthony Williams, a Medical Medium, brought celery juice into the public eye again. He believes celery is a cure to a multitude of disease. Food alone is not a cure of and in itself but celery is a source of Potassium and Vitamin K and is immensely better for you than cola.

The optimal diet for health is one that is low in animal products (especially processed meats), low in sugar and processed foods, and high in vegetables and other whole plant foods combined with healthy fats.

 Glyphosate And Heavy Metals

in The News

Why did the condiment go to jail?

A salt with a deadly weapon.

Speaking of salt, which brand are you choosing? There are numerous gourmet salts that include heavy metals in them. Research shows us darker and deeply colored salts have more heavy metals and a few even contain arsenic. Remember, you can bring your products into the office for testing.  We are using Celtic Sea Salt - a Vital Mineral Blend.

Do you love your chocolate? Here are 24 Popular Chocolate Brands With Heavy Metals. Why don't we want heavy metals in our system? Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain are common symptoms of acute metal ingestion. Some articles also include chronic fatigue, brain fog, and headaches.

There are numerous ways to get the heavy metals out of your system. We recommend homeopathy and nutritional supplementation and, there are a number of chocolates that are metal-free. Here are some of the chocolates we tested in the office that allow you to indulge: Ghirardelli Premium Baking Bar, Lindt Excellence A Dark Touch of Sea Salt, UNREAL Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups, Larabar Bites Chocolate Macaroon.

Much of our food is contaminated. Recently a jury awarded $80 million dollars because of Glyphosate. Here is a Trial Tracker if you are interested in the details. Many people are confused because Bayer, the parent company of Monsanto, states Glyphosate (round-up) is safe. The jury unanimously  disagreed.

Our motto: don't take risks with you body. We can't tell you what to do but here are some articles that will educate you on the matter:

50 Foods Containing Roundup includes Cheerios, Oatmeal, and Granola. Trace amounts are found in Triscuit Crackers and Ben and Jerry's Ice Creams. We recommend everyone look at the list because some of the information is surprising.

Another great article recommends that we read labels and make sure it doesn't contain GMO ingredients. You will find a 'complete' list of Glyphosate Foods and other information.

Here is CNN's take on Glyphosate.

Bayer and Monsanto insist they are not harming people. They have gathered evidence that glyphosate doesn't hurt anyone. But... how many people do you know that have cancer? How has this become such an epidemic? Isn't an ounce of prevention better than a tumor?

We want everyone in the world to be healthy. That's why we are giving you this information. It is better to be safe than full of pesticides you didn't even realize you were eating.

LATE BREAKING NEWS - The following link is to Dr Mercola's website documenting a second award in this Glyphosate case.  Additionally Dr Mercola also documents the metabolic functions in the body that are disrupted by Glyphosate's.  If the science is overwhelming don't be discouraged.  We understand the science and can help you and your family with concerns about Glyphosates.

 Clean Without Chemicals

What do you do with a sick chemist?

If you can't helium, and you can't curium, then you might as well barium.

All joking aside, we would love for our clients to have a clean house without risking their health. Last month we talked about using vinegar. This month we are going to continue giving you tools to spring clean in a healthy manner.

A non-toxic air freshener can be made using Essential Oils:

8 oz. glass spray bottle of distilled water, add 7 drops wild orange, 7 drops grapefruit and 7 drops lemon for a citrus blend. Shake well before each use.

How about a chemical free hand sanitizer: Take a 4 oz glass spray bottle, combine 1 tablespoon aloe vera gel, 15 drops Sweet Orange, 5 drops Eucalyptus tea tree blend, fill the rest with water, and shake well before use.

Castile Soap lifts dirt, cuts grease, and eliminates tough stains. This can be used to clean your pots and pans. Pour a small amount into baking sheet and scrub for a few mintues.

This great article gives you recipes and 13 Uses for Castile Soap that includes everything from face wash and shampoo to using it as an all purpose house cleaner.

The Farmers Almanac has 10 Chemical-Free Spring Cleaning Hacks using pantyhose, baking soda, and, of course, vinegar. Click here.

Cleaning your body and your house can be toxic free. Let us know what chemical free recipes you use and we might include them in one of our blogs.
