Spring Clean Your Body, Mind, House
Let's get cleaning.
Spring Clean Your Mind
Evergreens might not mind winter, but for all the other trees, Spring is a re-leaf.
Create a positive person inventory. Notice one great thing about each person you interact with during your day and make a physical note. Repeat this exercise for a month. You will start to look for positive traits in everyone around you. And, you can reread your notes when you start to feel frustrated.
Create a Worry-Later List. You read that right. When a thought pops into your head, write it down on the list. You've captured it so move on with your day. Set aside 15 minutes each evening. Read the worry and cross it off the list. It is in the past, over and forgotten. Now destroy the list in some meaningful way. Burn, rip, tear, or delete.
Take a spring break from social media. It can be a day, a week, a month. This allows you to unwind and recharge. You may even stop the comparison that goes on in your head. Don't kid yourself. We've been wired to look at pictures and compare our happiness or unhappiness to what we see. If you can't turn off for a day, at least disconnect an hour before bed. Science tells us that allows better sleep, especially if you put it in another room.
Pick up Choose magazine at the office. The inaugural issue features local businesses, raising confident kids, sustainable farming, current events, and has an article written by Lona Smith, N.D. You can also subscribe to get a PDF of the magazine. Email firstname.lastname@example.org. March begins a two part series of nutritional supplements and your health. You will receive additional explanations of vitamins and the roll they play in your body.
You will also find a 10% off coupon for services. This includes Tricia Wade's Lymphatic enhancement therapy. Doesn't that leaf-blow your mind?

What is the best time to bring out your trampoline?
Sneak Exercise into your day. Brush your teeth and do side leg lifts at the same time. Good for posture and balance. Stand and walk while on the phone. Your conversations allow you to get your steps in. Stretch before bed. Bring one knee at a time to your chest after you lay down while inhaling for 5 counts. Hold stretch for five counts. Release the leg and breathe out for five counts. You will be ready to sleep after ten reps.
Pump up the volume and dance while you cook dinner. Dancing integrates the mind, body, and soul. This works for all ages so have your housemates join the fun.
Spring clean your hair. Mix 1/4 cup honey with 1/4 cup cinnamon. Apply to your scalp for 15 minutes. Rinse. Cinnamon increases blood flow and could stimulate hair growth.
Cold and Flu Bath Oil. Want to get rid of body aches and unblock sinuses? Combine three teaspoons of jojoba oil in a small glass bowl. Add 3 drops each of the following essential oils: roman chamomile, peppermint, rosemary, juniper, and eucalyptus. Combine in a small glass bowl. Stir. Add to bath while water is running. Bathe and then go to bed. It can also be used in a foot bath before bed.
Cold season bubble bath. Six drops eucalyptus oil, three drops spearmint oil, three drops peppermint oil, one quart distilled water, one bar castile soap (four ounce bar or use liquid castile), 4 ounces liquid glycerin. Enjoy.
Spring clean your feet. Sea salt smooths tough calluses. The vitamin C in limes brightens your skin tone. Epsom salt replaces excess swelling. Dampen your feet. Dip half a lime in sea salt and scrub the lime over your calluses. Fill a basin with warm water and one to two cups of Epsom salts. Soak feet for ten minutes. Dry and moisturize.
Pedicure Scrub For Sensitive Feet. Mix half cup baking soda and three teaspoons water. The superfine texture of the baking soda is a gentle yet effective scrub. Baking soda also has alkalizing effects on the skin, making it smooth.

Spring Clean Your House
What do you call it when you lose control of your cleaning cart?
Let's clean. Here's a 30 day guide by Better Homes & Garden that takes a day by day approach to spring clean your home.
Hire a maid to do the heavy lifting. Hate to clean bathrooms? Detest washing windows? Get someone else to do it for you. Living in a clean space is emotionally calming.
Easily clean an oven with baking soda. Brush a paste of baking soda and water on the sides and bottom of your oven. Spray the paste with vinegar and let it foam. Repeat spraying as needed until you can easily remove baked on food particles.
Sink cleaner. Sprinkle baking soda on a half of lemon (or make a paste of lemon juice and baking soda) and use it to clean stainless steel sinks.
Unclog kitchen drains. Shake a few tablespoons of baking soda into the drain; pour in heated vinegar, which will make the baking soda fizz to break up the clogs and rinse the drain with boiling water.
Make your bed each morning. A great habit to create after you've showered and dressed. This simple act triggers you to be more efficient throughout your day. Bed-makers have been proven to be happier than non bed-makers.
Donate what you don't need. Take one room at a time and let go of the clutter. Research has identified a link between making a donation to charity and increased activity in the area of the brain that registers pleasure. Get rid of the items you don't love or no longer need and feel good about it.
Why did the farmer feed his pig vinegar?
He wanted sweet and sour pork.
Vinegar can be used for your health and your home. It increases calcium absorption, helps people with type 2 diabetes control blood sugar, and makes a healthy diet easier to swallow.
It comes in many varieties: white vinegar, apple cider vinegar, wine vinegar, balsamic vinegar, to name just a few.
Here are some handy-dandy ways to use this magical substance:
Meat tenderizer. It helps break down muscle fibers in tough meat. Marinade in refrigerator. Two hours for meat, 20 minutes for fish.
Saves eggs. Put a tablespoon in the pot when you boil eggs. If they crack while boiling, their whites will quickly congeal.
Whiten potatoes. Peel, cover with water and add a tablespoon or two of vinegar to keep potatoes from browning.
Pickle Your Veggies. Recipe here.
There are many claims about what apple cider vinegar can do. It does play an important role in health and healing yet some statements people make are not substantiated. Here is in-cider information:
One tablespoon of apple cider vinegar per day is the typical therapeutic dose recommended.
To settle minor stomach upset, mix a spoonful of vinegar in glass of water and drink. This stimulates your digestive juices.
Sore throat -- mix one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar into a glass of water, gargle with a mouthful of the solution and then swallow it. Repeat until you have finished all the solution in the glass.
Natural cough syrup, mix half a tablespoon apple cider vinegar with half a tablespoon honey and swallow.
Congested? Place a quarter cup of apple cider vinegar to the recommended amount of water in your room vaporizer. Personally, this office uses essential oils because they smell so much better.
Last but not least, time flies like an arrow, but fruit flies like vinegar.
Spring Clean Using Vinegar
Vinegar is a safer bleach alternative. It is biodegradable, has no harmful chemicals, and cleans most surfaces. (Do not use on wood, stone, and grout).
Vinegar eliminates carpet odors, removes dust mites (mix a cup of vinegar with your favorite essential oil in a spray bottle and squirt away), cleans floors and windows.
Would you like to clean your house for less than $5.00? This Better Homes and Garden article tells you how to use white distilled vinegar for every room in the house. Click here so you can put this magical substance to work while you Spring clean.
