The Gift of Health

Endings are just as important
as new beginnings.
What if you decided to
eat right, think right,
and live right instead of
waiting for the New Year?

Holiday Tips
Last month we talked about cold and flu and offered solutions and suggestions. This month we want to remind you that you are what you eat.
Halloween starts the influx of sugars into our lives. Thanksgiving dessert tables have been known to tank immune systems. Now we are in the month of holiday parties and feasts. A little eggnog here, a slice or two or three of pie, and we need a candida cleanse come January.
What if you did it differently this season? What if you started the New Year feeling vibrant? Here are a few tips we'd like to share.
1. Ask, "How can I end this year in better health than I started?" If you intend to eat right, think right and live right, you will definitely be alright.
2. Water is your friend. Stay hydrated. It helps you let go of the notion that you need to nibble.
3. Eat when you are hungry, stop when you are full. Someone else will enjoy that second piece of cake and it doesn't need to be you.

4. Exercise is your secret weapon. Many people have so many commitments they skip their exercise schedule. Walking the malls is a great way to spend less and feel good about your health and your pocket book.
5. Cook with family members. Many people fondly remember the time they were baking in the kitchen with family. You can start a new tradition by making it a sugar free memory. Have everyone pick a recipe that is healthy and experiment. Disasters will be remembered fondly in just a few years.
6. Plan ahead. When we are stressed and hungry we don't follow the plan. When you know the day will be busy, plan for it. Have snacks that fit your diet. Say "no thank you" to events that seem obligatory. Breathe.

7. Feed your cells instead of your emotions. If you are an emotional eater, Cellfood Natural Weight Loss formula might be good for you. It detoxifies the body, cleanses the liver and bowels, and reduces stress. A great way to end the year.
8. Pay it forward. Spending money on others is scientifically proven to boost your happiness. Forgo that calorie laden Mocha Latte and buy one for the next person in line. Here's a great article that explains the psychology behind gifting others and it can be as simple as $1.00. Click here.

Many people travel during the holiday. The airlines are constantly changing what you can and can't take on the plane. A recent trip to Europe had me create a doctors note for those of you who travel.
Our spray bottles are below the 3 oz limits, however, everything must fit into a quart size zip lock baggie. Whether it is medication or shampoo or make-up. The airlines used to allow unlimited quart size baggies. You can still take what you need but you are required to have a Dr.'s note. We have that letter in our office if you plan to travel.

Air borne virus are recirculated on planes. Because I can't open the window and get fresh air, I have a protocol that helps me remain healthy even if the guy in the front of the plane starts to sneeze. The protocol consists of oligo minerals -- selenium, zinc, copper, manganese, and magnesium. Most of you have those in your cabinets. For those who don't, we can ship these handy sprays to you along with the Dr.'s note.

Let's Spice Things Up
Research supports the surprising health benefits of spices you may have on your shelves at home. Sprinkle these into your food for healthier living. And if you don't like the taste, we've also offered you a few supplements that do the same thing.
Add Some Spice
Black pepper protects the cells that line your GI tract, improving gut function. New studies show it reduces the risk of colon cancer. Especially during the holiday season, a good probiotic such as Flora Immune or PB Assist, Jr. is needed. Both products assist the cells that line your GI tract and improve gut function.

Cinnamon has anti-inflammatory compounds that boost satiety, which may lead you to eat less. It has been shown to lower blood sugar levels and has an anti-diabetic effect. Chromium Nicotinate also lowers blood sugars and has an anti-diabetic effect.
Cumin protects cell function and has been linked to reduced risk of breast cancer.
Garlic has been known through ancient history for combating colds.
Ginger treats nausea and helps anti-inflammatory properties. PB Assist, Jr. does not require refrigeration and can be kept in your purse or bag. It immediately treats nausea.

Holy Basil helps fight infections, inhibits the growth of bacteria, yeast and molds and boosts overall immunity. Bamboo Extract is a natural antibiotic and helps grow hair.
Peppermint relieves IBS pain and may reduce nausea.
Sage can improve brain function and memory. Ele-max gives you 20 - 30% increase in brain function and helps reduce stress.
Turmeric contains curcumin, which makes it a strongly anti-inflammatory. Theracurmin-HP is bio-available curcumin. This reduces blood pressure, inflammation and eases muscle pain.

Sparkling Mineral Water
This should be considered a seasonal holiday drink because it's so bubbly. It can make you feel full longer and has been known to prevent overeating. It will help alleviate digestive problems and provide minerals in the process. Sparkling water is a better choice than sugary beverages like soda, hot chocolate, and flavored coffees. The downside – you may burp and feel gassier than a Chevron station. If that happens, increase your probiotics.
We’ve been experimenting with adding flavors to our sparkling water. Grapefruit chunks and lemon rind give the water a refreshing twist. Any natural citrus fruit seems to make the drink festive. Lime in your water is a great natural source for calcium. Change your flavor, change your bones! Raspberries, blackberries, and pomegranate seeds can be added during the holidays.

Sparkling Water & Essential Oils
Just a tiny amount of essential oil added to your water gives you amazing, all natural fruit flavor, and has zero calories! We recommend San Pellegrino Sparkling Natural Mineral Water. This article: 10 Things You Didn't Know About San Pellegrino, includes information about why this drink is healthy for you.
San Pellegrino comes in a glass bottle. You need to use a glass or bottle when you use essential oils. Plastic and essential oils don't work well together and glass bottles are easily recycled.

Select an essential oil that fits your taste buds. One you know can be ingested. Peppermint is our chosen oil this month. It smells like the season and here is an article that shows you 35 Remarkable Uses For Peppermint Oil. We also tried Grapefruit, Sweet Orange, Lemon, and Lime. Reminder: A high grade essential oil from a reputable distributor is necessary.
Open the bottle, pour in one drop and taste. Start with less and add to fit your palate. Toast yourself on making a healthy choice and sip away.
Other Healthy Drink Choices include hot teas. Ginger will warm you up and Chamomile will calm you down. Natural, organic teas are the best. Brands that have been tested by our office and consistently are free of toxins are Yogi Teas.
Ever heard of Mushroom Coffee? Mushroom coffee is the next step in all-natural, antioxidant-fortified caffeine fixes. It is a healthier choice if you drink coffee and there are a few that taste just like regular brew.

We test products for our client so that you don’t compromise your immune system with heavy metals, herbicides, pesticides, solvents, carcinogens, and unlabeled artificial sweeteners. Be sure to bring your favorite packet of tea and/ or other drink choices so that we can make sure you consume food and drinks that nourish you.

Gift Certificates are a way to encourage those people you love to take care of themselves. Ask at the reception area if you want to give the gift of health or total relaxation. They can be printed in any domination for Lona and Trisha's services.
Trisha Wade, LMT, CLET sends a big thanks to all of you who participated in the introduction packages for the L.E.T. (Lymphatic Enhancement Therapy). We want to remind you to use those sessions by the end of January 31, 2019.
Trisha has many options available for both health and for total relaxation. You can select Trager massage or L.E.T. sessions or a combination of both.

And don't forget the ionic foot bath. Another great way to release toxins in your body.
L.E.T. sessions allow your body to release toxicity and creates change in your nervous system. This process is eight (8) times more effective than manual lymphatic drainage techniques. It works on the nervous system and changes the electrical charge of your cells. When we change the electrical charge of the cells, your body uses your nutritional supplements effectively.
